Oaks Hotels & Resorts straps on its sneakers to Walk for Women’s Cancer

11 SEPTEMBER 2018: Leading accommodation provider Oaks Hotels & Resorts has pledged its support for Cancer Council Queensland’s life-saving work, coming on board as a Local Event Partner for the Walk for Women’s Cancer.

In addition to its event sponsorship, team members from Oaks Hotels & Resorts rallied together on Saturday 8 September 2018, , strapping on their sneakers and walking the six-kilometre journey from Alexandra Headland along the coastline to Mooloolaba and back.

Oaks Hotels & Resorts’ employees joined the community to unite, celebrate and remember those affected by women’s cancers, and in doing so, raised vital funds for Cancer Council Queensland in order to continue their world-leading research, prevention programs and patient support services for women affected by breast and gynecological cancers.

Founded in 2004 on the Sunshine Coast, the Walk for Women’s Cancer events have now expanded to include five Queensland regions, with community members from Bundaberg, Cairns, the Gold and Sunshine Coast, and Yepoon all stepping out in support of the charity throughout the month of September.

Oaks Hotels & Resorts’ Chief Operating Officer, Mr Craig Hooley, said the company was committed to supporting local community organisations.

“As a company, we are proud to partner with Cancer Council Queensland and hopefully help to make a small difference in the fight against women’s cancers. We have a long-standing commitment to give back to our local community and look forward to partnering with other like-minded charity organisations in the future.”

Cancer Council Queensland is a community-based charity that is committed to eliminating cancer as a life-threatening and distressing disease for future generations.
