Broome set to boom with new discount airfares announced for Australia's North West
Broome set to boom with new, discount airfares announced for Australia's North West.
It is the dream Australian location that few have been able to tick off the bucket list due to the cost of flights taking it out of contention for the average traveller...until now.
Off the back of some clever negotiating that has seen our favourite Australian airline Qantas offer more competitive pricing ex Perth to Broome, the time is now to take Australia’s most remote outback town off the wish list and put it on the visit list with Oaks Hotels & Resorts also rolling out the welcome mat with rooms starting from just *$109 per night at Oaks Cable Beach Sanctuary.
Why Broome?
Broome is the undisputed jewel in the outback crown with equal measure turquoise waters, sugar coloured sands and ochre earth colliding in a spectacular fusion of dramatic landscape and colour. The gateway to the Kimberley and a place where you can step back in time to discover Australia’s rich pearling past and perhaps pick up a prized souvenir from one of the pearl farms that produce 85% of the worlds exquisite South Sea pearls.
Cable Beach is arguably the most famous of all local attractions; over 22 breathtaking kilometres framed by jagged cliffs of beach that you can drive, walk or on twilight meander along on the back of a camel or toast to an even slower pace enjoying cocktails from Cable Beach’s best vantage point, The Sunset Bar as the sun sets over the sparkling Indian Ocean.
There is culture and history to discover plus mind boggling evidence of a prehistoric past with a visit to Gantheaume Point, just six kilometres from the town centre, revealing ancient dinosaur footprints dating back to the early Cretaceous period and said to be approximately 130 million years old! One of the examples include a three-toed theropod - thought to be a Tyrannosaurus - and enormous round Sauropod prints, believed to be a Brontosaurus. Both can be viewed on a very low tide.
Another natural phenomena found no where else in the world except Broome is ‘Staircase to the Moon’, where at certain times of the month and always on the low tide, the moon reflects on the mud flats at Roebuck Bay creating an eerie staircase that seems to beckon viewers right up the moon. The spectacle has developed a generous following of locals and visitors and is a must see for those in Broome during its occurrence.
Broome sits on a small peninsula that fringes the crystalline Indian Ocean on one side and over one million miles of arid Australian outback on the other but it is not just the visual appeal of this town that charms its visitors. A melting pot of cultures make up Broome’s vibrant personality and these influences can be experienced in cuisine, architecture, local landmarks, memorials and festivities.
Broome is a year round destination with no real summer or winter, instead characterised by ‘the wet’ and ‘the dry’ seasons. One-way flights from Perth to Broome will start at $179 all year round and Oaks Hotels & Resorts are celebrating the incoming wet season with studio rooms starting from just *$109 per night or 2 bedroom apartments from just $189 a night at Cable Beach Sanctuary.
With two resort properties calling Broome home, one a short distance from Cable Beach and the other at Roebuck Bay within close proximity to Staircase To The Moon, guests can relax in comfort enjoying premier resort facilities and all that Broome has to offer.
“We are thrilled guests now have the opportunity to visit Broome instead of ruling it out because it is considered too expensive. Over 400,000 Western Australians alone head to Bali each year, so this is a chance for them to support their own home state but also visit one of our countries most breathtaking destinations.” said General Manager for Sales for Oaks Hotels & Resorts, Dan Csortan.
