The Hunter Valley’s favourite fairway – Oaks Cypress Lakes Resort – adds another hole-in-one to its scorecard

Iconic Hunter Valley resort, Oaks Cypress Lakes Resort, is continuing to cement itself as one of the country’s most revered golfing destinations – now ranking among Australian Golf Digest Magazine’s Top 100 Courses, as announced today.

The coveted Top 100 award comes off the back of an exceptionally successful 12 months for the property, which not only saw Oaks Cypress Lakes Resort celebrate its 25th anniversary, but also take out the title of Australia’s Best Golf Hotel 2017 at the 4th Annual World Golf Awards against an outstanding line up of competitors, held in Spain in November.

General Manager of Oaks Cypress Lakes Resort, Mr Niel Mason, said the property was going from strength to strength, and today’s Australian Golf Digest’s announcement was further testament to this.

“We are proud of this recognition and will continue to raise the bar when it comes to delivering world-class golfing experiences for guests and visitors. We would like to thank the golfing industry, as well as the tourism authorities and thousands of players who have visited us over the years for their ongoing support.”

To celebrate its recent string of achievements, the championship 18-hole course is rolling out several initiatives and special packages to suit every type of golfing guest – amateur to elite!

Green fee rates at the Steve Smyers-designed resort course start at just $35.00* for members and $70.00* for non-members, while annual Country Club Memberships are now starting from $300.00* and include exclusive access to all resort facilities, as well as private invitations to members only special events, and discounts on accommodation, resort dining and the Pro Shop.

The premier golfing destination has also recently introduced a ‘Create Your Own Golf Day’ initiative; where corporate guests are invited to custom design their own unique golfing experience for their colleagues or clients – to host alongside an event specialist. Guests can tailor their golfing affair to include a variety of special inclusions, including food and beverage packages, entertainment and welcome gifts. Prices start at just $60.00* per person.

Dedicated to offering an exceptional tee-off experience for every golfer, the clubhouse also hosts annual fixtures for adept players, 8-week programs for juniors, monthly ‘Nine & Wine’ social competitions and after-office-hours packages.

Unveiled in 1992, the 18-hole course is home to abundant native Australian wildlife, manicured greens, dramatic fairway shapes, over 60 strategically located bunkers and an exhilarating 6,467m par 72 course, plus a new club car fleet complete with the latest Visage GPS system, which enables golfers to select the right club and conveniently order beverages and refreshments at the touch of a screen.

Located just two hours’ drive from Sydney and close to the Hunter Valley’s most popular attractions and experiences, Oaks Cypress Lakes Resort boasts 136 villas in a range of One, Two, Three and Four Bedroom configurations, and features three swimming pools, tennis courts, two restaurants and bars, gymnasium, and seven versatile function venues.

Broome set to boom with new, discount airfares announced for Australia's North West.

It is the dream Australian location that few have been able to tick off the bucket list due to the cost of flights taking it out of contention for the average traveller...until now.

Off the back of some clever negotiating that has seen our favourite Australian airline Qantas offer more competitive pricing ex Perth to Broome, the time is now to take Australia’s most remote outback town off the wish list and put it on the visit list with Oaks Hotels & Resorts also rolling out the welcome mat with rooms starting from just *$109 per night at Oaks Cable Beach Sanctuary.

Why Broome?

Broome is the undisputed jewel in the outback crown with equal measure turquoise waters, sugar coloured sands and ochre earth colliding in a spectacular fusion of dramatic landscape and colour. The gateway to the Kimberley and a place where you can step back in time to discover Australia’s rich pearling past and perhaps pick up a prized souvenir from one of the pearl farms that produce 85% of the worlds exquisite South Sea pearls.

Cable Beach is arguably the most famous of all local attractions; over 22 breathtaking kilometres framed by jagged cliffs of beach that you can drive, walk or on twilight meander along on the back of a camel or toast to an even slower pace enjoying cocktails from Cable Beach’s best vantage point, The Sunset Bar as the sun sets over the sparkling Indian Ocean.

There is culture and history to discover plus mind boggling evidence of a prehistoric past with a visit to Gantheaume Point, just six kilometres from the town centre, revealing ancient dinosaur footprints dating back to the early Cretaceous period and said to be approximately 130 million years old! One of the examples include a three-toed theropod - thought to be a Tyrannosaurus - and enormous round Sauropod prints, believed to be a Brontosaurus. Both can be viewed on a very low tide.

Another natural phenomena found no where else in the world except Broome is ‘Staircase to the Moon’, where at certain times of the month and always on the low tide, the moon reflects on the mud flats at Roebuck Bay creating an eerie staircase that seems to beckon viewers right up the moon. The spectacle has developed a generous following of locals and visitors and is a must see for those in Broome during its occurrence.

Broome sits on a small peninsula that fringes the crystalline Indian Ocean on one side and over one million miles of arid Australian outback on the other but it is not just the visual appeal of this town that charms its visitors. A melting pot of cultures make up Broome’s vibrant personality and these influences can be experienced in cuisine, architecture, local landmarks, memorials and festivities.

Broome is a year round destination with no real summer or winter, instead characterised by ‘the wet’ and ‘the dry’ seasons. One-way flights from Perth to Broome will start at $179 all year round and Oaks Hotels & Resorts are celebrating the incoming wet season with studio rooms starting from just *$109 per night or 2 bedroom apartments from just $189 a night at Cable Beach Sanctuary.

With two resort properties calling Broome home, one a short distance from Cable Beach and the other at Roebuck Bay within close proximity to Staircase To The Moon, guests can relax in comfort enjoying premier resort facilities and all that Broome has to offer.

“We are thrilled guests now have the opportunity to visit Broome instead of ruling it out because it is considered too expensive. Over 400,000 Western Australians alone head to Bali each year, so this is a chance for them to support their own home state but also visit one of our countries most breathtaking destinations.” said General Manager for Sales for Oaks Hotels & Resorts, Dan Csortan.
