Outstanding cuisine, fine wine and world-class opera – Oaks Cypress Lakes Resort to host Opera by the Lake in the Hunter Valley

One of the Hunter Valley’s favourite resort destinations, Oaks Cypress Lakes Resort, is set to play host to the region’s premier gastronomic and musical event come May, collaborating with Opera Australia, chef Justin North and Tyrrell’s Wines to present Opera by the Lake.

Bringing together outstanding cuisine, fine wine and world-class opera, all set against a stunning lakeside backdrop in Australia’s oldest wine region, industry heavyweights will join forces to treat guests to a bespoke dining and entertainment experience on 26th May at Oaks Cypress Lakes Resort.

Nestled amongst the Resort’s sprawling grounds and overlooking the Hunter’s verdant hinterland and iconic vineyards, the first-time event will showcase dazzling performances from two of Australia’s leading opera singers, soprano Lorina Gore and tenor Simon Kim, accompanied by Opera Australia’s head of music Tahu Matheson, who will all perform a selection of well-known arias throughout the evening.

Guests will meanwhile be wined and dined by award-winning chef Justin North and renowned wine producer Tyrrell’s – a family owned and operated business that has been a part of the Hunter’s rich tapestry since 1858.

The specially-curated four-course degustation menu will hero fresh local produce, expertly prepared by Justin and his team, while each dish will be accompanied by superb wine pairings.

Tickets are limited and are available to purchase for $250 per person (plus a booking fee of $8.50). And for those looking to make a weekend of it, Oaks Cypress Lakes Resort has released exclusive accommodation deals for Opera by the Lake guests.

Starting from $249* per night, event-goers can retreat to a spacious and fully self-contained One Bedroom Apartment and enjoy a full buffet breakfast daily for two.

Located just two hours’ drive from Sydney and within easy reach of the Hunter Valley’s most popular attractions and experiences, Oaks Cypress Lakes Resort boasts 136 villas in a range of One, Two and Three Bedroom configurations – some of which have been recently refurbished. The Resort features three swimming pools, tennis courts, two restaurants and bars, a gymnasium, and seven versatile function venues.

Oaks Cypress Lakes Resort also features a championship 18-hole golf course, which recently took out the title of Australia’s Best Golf Hotel 2017 at the 4th Annual World Golf Awards, as well as being announced amongst Australian Golf Digest’s Top 100 Golf Courses for 2018.
