Skiing and Ski Hire
Oaks Lake Crackenback Resort is your launch pad to epic snow fun with Thredbo and Perisher Resorts just 15 minutes away. Add to that our convenient onsite Snowsports and Ski Hire store, Spa and Wellness Centre to iron out the aches and pains, and après ski amenities, and you have all the ingredients for the perfect snow holiday.

Resort Winter Shuttle Bus
Enjoy our free shuttle bus to the Skitube this Winter operated through Harro’s Snowsports. A convenient, hassle-free way to catch the Skitube. There are bus stops located around Oaks Lake Crackenback Resort, just wait at one of the allocated stops and the bus will deliver you and your snow gear to the Skitube ready for your trip to Perisher ski resort. Bus runs on a morning and afternoon schedule.

Thredbo Valley Track
The full track currently consists of a route taking visitors from Thredbo via Oaks Lake Crackenback Resort to Gaden Trout Hatchery. Enjoy the new 18.4 km section of track, following the Thredbo River downstream from Bullocks Hut to Gaden Trout Hatchery.
Mountain bike through some of Australia’s highest terrain and picturesque surroundings on the Thredbo Valley Track. The Thredbo Valley Track in Kosciuszko National Park offers all levels of mountain biker the opportunity to experience another side to the Snowy Mountains. The Track has a great range of options for first-time mountain bikers and family friendly rides.
Or tackle the extended Thredbo Valley Track. The extended Thredbo Valley Track will challenge you with 35km of adrenaline-fuelled mountain biking from Bullocks Hut to Gaden Trout Hatchery. The Resort can assist with shuttles and bike hire so visit the Team at Harros’ for more information.

Road Cycling
The quality of road surfaces, minimal summer time traffic, epic climbs and tranquillity of the Kosciuszko National Park, make road riding in the Snowy Mountains one of the most breathtaking, challenging and strava-worthy experiences in the country.

Forgot your toothbrush? Don’t worry! Cracker’s store located inside Reception is stocked with the essentials as well as a range of items including souvenirs, ice creams, local gifts, and a liquor store.

Snowies Alpine Walk
Snowies Alpine Walk is a 56km multi-day walk in Kosciuszko National Park. You’ll climb Australia’s highest mountain, wander through wildflower meadows and walk through glacier-carved landscapes and snow gum forests.

The Snowies Alpine Walk is best experienced over 4 days, split into sections that range from 9km – 22km per day.

- Before you leave home: Check alerts and closures on Kosciuszko National Park website.
- Starts: Guthega Village
- Ends: Bullocks Flat next door to Oaks Lake Crackenback Resort
- Available: December to April.
- Grade: 4 – Bushwalking experience recommended.

Want to stretch your legs? A network of walking trails can be accessed from Oaks Lake Crackenback Resort ranging from 20 minutes to 3 hours.

Self-guided alpine day walks
From conquering Kozzie, to discovering the great alpine lakes and historic huts, the Snowy Mountains has an abundance of walking trails for all ages and abilities.

If you are not staying with Oaks Lake Crackenback Resort, you can still enjoy our huge range of activities and facilities for just $15 per person with our Resort Day Pass. Please be advised, the Resort Day Pass excludes trampolines.
Please check with Resort staff in the winter months before riding mountain bike trails, as many trails are closed due to weather conditions.

Fly Fishing Tours

Wally the Wombat
At Oaks Lake Crackenback Resort we have a resident wombat that we have named Wally. Wally lives on the corner of Bullocks Drive and Rocky Road.
Children can draw a picture or write a letter to Wally and deliver it to his mailbox. Wally reads all his letters and may even respond to the children’s letters.
There are some great walks around the resort for spotting wildlife including many of Wally’s friends including kangaroos, deers, emus and possums.
Cuisine Restaurant offers a Wally the Wombat children’s menu.
