Oaks Cypress Lakes Resort named Australia's Best Golf Hotel 2017

Premier Hunter Valley resort Oaks Cypress Lakes Resort is capped off a highly successful year by taking out the title of Australia’s Best Golf Hotel 2017 at the 4th Annual World Golf Awards, held in Spain.

Competing against an outstanding line up of world-class golfing destinations across the country, the popular New South Wales property has come out on top to claim the coveted award, which was voted on by leading golf industry and tourism authorities, as well as thousands of golfing consumers.

2017 was a milestone year for Oaks Cypress Lakes Resort, celebrating its 25th anniversary and adding the finishing touches to its major $20 million refurbishment program, which spanned the property’s accommodation, leisure, MICE and wedding facilities, and of course its premiership 18-hole golf course.

General Manager of Oaks Cypress Lakes Resort, Mr Niel Mason, said the Resort was exceptionally proud of this achievement and what it represents.

“On behalf of Oaks Hotels & Resorts and the team at Oaks Cypress Lakes Resort, we are delighted to be recognised as a leader in the golf hotel category here in Australia. It really is the perfect way to round out what has already been such an exciting year.

“Our golf course is consistently ranked among the country’s top resort courses, offering magnificent views across the hinterland, Brokenback Mountain and iconic vineyards – it truly is a special place to play and we’re thrilled that our guests acknowledge this.

“Having recently undergone significant upgrades, paired with our beautifully refurbished accommodation and onsite facilities, our course is more appealing than ever, and this award is testament to the success of our new and improved product,” he said.

Unveiled in 1992, Oaks Cypress Lakes Resort’s course was designed by Steve Smyers of Florida and has since welcomed thousands of golfing enthusiasts year round. The course is home to abundant native Australian wildlife, manicured greens, dramatic fairway shapes, over 60 strategically located bunkers and an exhilarating 6,467m par 72 course that is as challenging as it is breathtaking.

The course also recently welcomed a new club car fleet complete with the latest Visage GPS system, which enables golfers to select the right club and conveniently order beverages and refreshments at the touch of a screen.

It also offers a driving range, professional golfing lessons, an onsite golf shop and convenient clubhouse, perfect for a pre or post-game meal and drink.

Located just two hours’ drive from Sydney and close to the Hunter Valley’s most popular attractions and experiences, Oaks Cypress Lakes Resort boasts 136 villas in a range of One, Two, Three and Four Bedroom configurations, and features three swimming pools, tennis courts, two restaurants and bars, gymnasium, and seven versatile function venues.
