Oaks Calypso Plaza undergoes extensive refurbishment program

Leading accommodation provider Oaks Hotels & Resorts, has invested $1.5 million into revitalising its popular Gold Coast resort Oaks Calypso Plaza, located in the seaside suburb of Coolangatta on Queensland’s southern coastline.

Enjoying unrivalled panoramas over Coolangatta’s pristine beach and grassy headland, and back towards the glittering Gold Coast skyline, Oaks Calypso Plaza has remained a part of the town’s rich tapestry since it was first developed in 1999 and acquired by Oaks Hotels & Resorts in 2002.

Now, 17 years after it first opened its doors to guests, the iconic resort has unveiled its fresh new look, having undergone significant refurbishments to its accommodation, including one and two bedroom apartments, plus the hotel reception, mezzanine level and other common areas.

Guest rooms were restyled to reflect a contemporary design whilst still maintaining their signature coastal appeal, and now feature refreshed décor, a soothing seaside colour palette and modern furnishings, comprising new kitchen bench tops, fresh carpets, interior paintwork, new bedding, headboards and linen, couches and soft furnishings.

The resort is favoured by families, couples, singles and groups seeking a laidback Gold Coast beachside escape, lending to its spacious apartment accommodation with full kitchen facilities and expansive balconies – some with scenic ocean views – and deluxe onsite leisure facilities, including a heated lagoon-style swimming pool complete with waterslides, dedicated children’s wading pool, fully-equipped gymnasium, spa, sauna and games room.

Chief Operations Officer of Oaks Hotels & Resorts, Mr Mike Anderson, commented, “The Gold Coast is renowned as an iconic holiday destination with hundreds of hoteliers vying for travellers’ business, so in order to stay competitive in the market you need to constantly reinvent yourself to tick all the boxes and convert guest bookings.

We are therefore thrilled to reveal our refreshed accommodation at Oaks Calypso Plaza, which has given our property further appeal and an advantage over our local competitors. The feedback so far has been very positive and we are pleased to offer quality accommodation in a sought after beachside location, paired with excellent service and premium guest facilities – making it the ideal year-round holiday destination,” he said.

Oaks Calypso Plaza is offering holidaymakers the chance to experience its new look accommodation first hand, starting from $234* per night (minimum two night stay), including accommodation in a refurbished One Bedroom Apartment.

Oaks Calypso Plaza is located just five minutes from Gold Coast Airport and surrounded by a profusion of alfresco restaurants, cafes and surf clubs, calm swimming bays, pumping surf breaks and shopping hot spots. It is also an easy drive to the Gold Coast’s most popular attractions and experiences, like Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, Surfers Paradise, Sea World, Movie World and Wet ‘n’ Wild.
