OAKS HOTELS AND RESORTS ANNOUNCED AS NEW CO-MAJOR SPONSOR

01 November, 2017 - The Brisbane Lions proudly launched a new partnership which will see Oaks Hotels and Resorts act as their Co-Major Sponsor and Official Hotel Partner for the next two years.

Lions CEO Greg Swann, Senior Coach Chris Fagan and prized recruit Luke Hodge joined Oaks Chief Financial Officer Dan Hastings in Melbourne for today’s announcement. Oaks’ logo will feature on the back of the Lions’ home guernsey and on the front of their away and “Clash” jumpers, as well as all official on-field apparel. The two-year deal officially kicked off today.

“We are thrilled that Oaks, an international company with Queensland roots, is getting behind our Club.” Swann said. “We see many similarities between the two brands. Oaks are also growing and share our family friendly focus. “It’s only fitting that they feature predominantly on our away guernsey, with many of our members and supporters often travelling to watch the Lions play.”

Oaks portfolio includes 56 properties across Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, the United Arab Emirates and India, with more than 6,000 guest rooms under its management. The Brisbane Lions are the company’s first large-scale sporting sponsorship.

Chief Financial Officer of Oaks Hotels & Resorts, Dan Hastings, said the company was delighted in their new venture. “We are strongly committed to supporting our local community, and given the organisation is based in our very own backyard of Brisbane, this partnership opportunity felt like a natural synergy,” he said.  “The growth AFL continues to see in Australia is incredible and we are looking forward to adding some more weight behind our local team, the Brisbane Lions, as we collectively look to take the Club to new heights in the coming years.”

The partnership started today and will continue until 31 October, 2019, with a one year extension option.

Brisbane Lions players will start returning for 2018 pre-season training on Monday 6th November.
